Wiihdmi is an open source project with a similar footprint to the wiidual mod, downside is you have to populate the board yourself, program it etc etc.

I have a different wii hdmi mod in my system, but it’s a game changer.
A Wiiu Since It Already Has Hdmi And Even Though The Games Are 480P, You Can Set The Output Of The Console To 1080P So Your Tv Isn’t Relied Upon To Do The Scaling.
